Donald G. Mills, President of Mills Marine & Ship Repair, has been named the 2025 Virginia Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration! This prestigious honor recognizes Mr. Mills’ exceptional leadership, commitment to workforce development, and impact on the maritime industry. As a veteran and long-time shipbuilding expert, Mr. Mills co-founded MMSR in 2009 with his wife, Ernestine P. Mills, growing the company into one of the nation’s few Black-owned ship repair and engineering firms. He’ll be honored during National Small Business Week, May 4–10.
